The Collapse of Snow Miku Sculpture at Sapporo *Update*

Today at 4.30pm (Japan Time), the Snow Miku 2012's snow sculpture that was displayed at Sapporo's Yuki Matsuri (Sapporo's Snow Festival) has collapsed. Also, a nearby woman was hit by the fallen Snow Miku and was sent to the hospital for medical treatment. This was how Miku looked like before she collapsed.

And this is how it looks like now.

It was said that Miku collapsed due to today's warmer temperature and rain (It was raining yesterday). Today, Sapporo's weather is slightly 3 degrees higher than normal temperature and this was said to be the main cause.

*UPDATE*
It was announced that Snow Miku 2012 will be rebuilt and the date of completion is set at 11th of Feb (Date may change). The committee responsible for this event said that they have carefully planned the new design so that this incident will not happen again.

  2. It almost looks like someone used that sledgehammer to break it. Seems too mutilated to be caused from a slight temperature increase, but oh well.

I'm not really sure how to send private messages but I was curious as to how you got that "Labels" gadget. I really want to put that on my blog.
